Volkswagen will kick off an SUV onslaught later this year starting with the appearance of a fresh mid-size, 3-row SUV built-in the United States.
The 3-row SUV shall be implemented in quick succession by at least four more high-riding models, one that will be a successor to the current-generation Touareg.
Look for the new Touareg to be unveiled in 2017. It will arrive in local showrooms as a 2018 model.
2018 Volkswagen Touareg Redesign
The first thing we can make sure of is the known fact that the Touareg will keep its current proportions. Most vehicles grow in proportions when they transfer to a new generation usually, but changes should be kept to a minimum here. The reason for that is the Germans already are working on a more substantial, seven-seat SUV, and previous spy photographs suggest the new hauler is not really a complete great deal bigger than the Touareg. Making these two SUVs too similar in terms of size and form wouldn’t make sense, so it’s safe to assume that the next-gen Touareg will stick to being some 4.8 meters (189 inches wide) long and 1.9 meters (75 inches wide) wide.
The new VW Touareg is based on the MLB Evo program, however a little bit shorter compared to that bought at the 2017 Audi Q7. This system will allow the car to be lighter and much more fuel efficient. The test mule features new body panels and modified exhaust system and revised taillights. You can’t observe that in the photographs because the product quality is not the best, but the test mule features a digital measure cluster behind the steering wheel. It will most likely feature improved upon infotainment system and variety of driver-assist features. You can see both the exterior and interior design of the 2018 Volkswagen Touareg in the images below.
2018 Volkswagen Touareg Engine
As usual, the Touareg will receive a range of diesel and gasoline engines generally in most marketplaces. Inside the U.S., it shall continue deal with a new 3.0-liter V-6, as well as a hybrid model pairing the same powerplant with an electric motor.
We still have no idea anything about engine options, but we feel that the base 2018 Volkswagen Touareg will come with a four-cylinder petrol unit, matched with a 10-rate dual-clutch transmission. There are some rumors talking about a plug-in hybrid version matched with an 8-swiftness computerized gearbox, the same one used on the T-Prime GTE Theory, which produces 375 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
2018 Volkswagen Touareg Price and Release Date
The new program, redesigned body, new technology, and revised engines will also reflect in the SUV’s sticker, which may increase just a little in all market segments. Inside the U.S., the new Touareg will most likely retail from around $51,000, up from the existing starting price of $49,705.
The 2018 Volkswagen Touareg will be introduced to the public in late 2016 and can go on deal sometime in 2017.
