2018 Vauxhall VXR8 Rumors and Review – VAUXHALL VXR8 GTS-R is the fastest Vauxhall car ever made and will be driven for the last time at Goodwood Celebration of Quickness (June 29-July 2nd). Vauxhall will bid farewell with their VXR8 range of automobiles at the Goodwood Festival of Speed by the end of the month. A special model version of the VXR8 will be powered by a number of high profile drivers at the event. Known as the Vauxhall GTS-R, the new model is the most effective Vauxhall available.
2018 Vauxhall VXR8 Redesign
As befits its last-of-line position, the GTS-R-R is no typical VXR8 – and in this form it’s exclusive to the UK, too. Sending drive with a limited slide differential to the trunk rims, the GTS-R retains the previous GTS’s ingenious torque vectoring system, but contributes an upgraded braking system with six-piston, monoblock calipers and 410mm discs up front. In addition, the GTS-R wears all-new 20-inches forged alloy rims (ten-inch width at the rear, 9-inch at the front end).
Inside, the VXR8’s cabin design has undergone a raft of design changes. An improved instrument panel with suede-style inserts, a fresh device cluster, gauges, center gaming system, appliques and door trims incorporate to deliver a more premium look and feel.
2018 Vauxhall VXR8 Engine
Under the VXR8’s huge bonnet sits a 6.2-litre, GM LSA engine, as also observed in the Cadillac CTS-V and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Fitted with an Eaton four-lobe supercharger and water-to-air charge cooling, it’s a monster. Throttle response is strong, overtaking punch relentless and the supercharger integration smooth. Naturally, those 576 horsepower must move 1881kg at a significant pace, and indeed the VXR8 never seems anything less than supremely quick – even compared to an M5 or E63 AMG (non-S), neither which are as powerful.
2018 Vauxhall VXR8 Price and Release Date
The big hurdle to get over, though, is the price: at 54,995, it may be only five grand more than the car it replaces (and almost 20K significantly less than similar autos from BMW and Mercedes), but it’s still an awful lot of money to splash from a Vauxhall. Deliveries likely to commence towards the end of the year.
