2018 McLaren 720 Rumors and Review – Even though the 650S has been around for little over two years, it will be replaced by a fresh model – the 2018 McLaren 720s. Its successor was already spied testing using no camouflage which is quite strange for a development vehicle. The new car seems to be based on the same carbon fiber mono-tube framework as before. However, experts recommended that the new car could be more structurally rigid than before and thanks to that the weight might decrease just a bit. The wheelbase, and most of the car’s proportions for that matter, are all likely to stay the same or at least be nearly the same as the 650S.
2018 McLaren 720S Redesign
This is the most striking part of the 2018 McLaren 720s because they in some way were able to make it look more thrilling without adding crazy spoilers. For starters, leading end is new and it looks like nothing they ever does before. The headlights, and the DRLs, are installed inside V-shaped intakes which seem to be to channel air to the factors. The bumper, as well as the hood, both feature V-shaped accents and intakes that basically give it a unique look. The new 720s is also going to feature some of the slimmest headlights ever made thanks to a fresh LED technology developed by McLaren. The largest difference within the old model is the lack of side-intakes. Gossips say these have been changed to the lower of the car which is also the key reason why the front features so many more grilles that channel air under the car. The rear end is much less striking as the front mainly because here McLaren has been clearly motivated by the P1.
Not much is known about this area of the 2018 McLaren 720s. Up to now it appears that they may go to the less costly 540 and 570 models for creativity. Both of these feature more equipment and better materials than the more mature 650 and 675 vehicles. The 720s might get the rather minimalist, yet highly efficient, dashboard found in the less powerful 540C but it could also obtain quite a bit more gear and far better seats.
2018 McLaren 720S Engine Specs
Unlike the rest of the modern McLaren vehicles up to now, the 2018 McLaren 720S features a completely new powertrain. The 3.8-liter engine has been substituted by a 4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 which can make its debut on the 720S. This engine can be an evolution of the old one and it seems it offers not only more electricity but better petrol efficiency as well. The turbochargers are low-inertia systems and together with other enhancements, the 720S makes 710 horsepower or 720 metric horsepower. The torque end result is still unknown but taking into consideration the much larger displacement, expect over 650 lb-ft of torque from this new engine. McLaren didn’t say much else as it pertains to the engine. However, they do release a few public quantities about the car. On its stock wheels, it seems it is going to do a 1 / 4 mile in just 10.3 seconds which is blistering fast. Actually, it is considerably faster than before. The car will also accelerate from 0 to 124 MPH in only 7.8 seconds which is also very impressive for a rear end steering wheel drive car. The gearbox is likely a tweaked version from the elderly models.
2018 McLaren 720S Price and Release Date
2018 McLaren 720S will be, in addition to new engine and better interior, faster than its inner and outdoor competition. Resources from McLaren suggest that 720S is likely to be faster than 650S and 675LT by an inconsiderable margin. Whenever we read this, it made us very impatient to hold back for its debut.
The debut will be as we already mentioned at 2017 Geneva Car Show. The event in earlier mentioned Swiss city begins on March 7th. With only three months to go nothing specific about price was not mentioned but we believe that it will go just a little above current 650S model. McLaren 650S currently costs around $265,500.
