Alfa Romeo’s new Stelvio SUV has been noticed before its world debut at November’s 2016 LA auto show. The most recent prototype is the most revealing yet, although an almost completely undisguised version was shown briefly in a video tutorial that surfaced in Sept highlighting the vehicle’s place in Cassino, Italy.
The Stelvio was created to rival famous brands the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. The underpinnings are a modified version of the rear-wheel-drive Giorgio platform that debuted in the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The Stelvio is intended because of it may offer rear-wheel drive, though most models will be all-wheel drive likely.
2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio – Exterior
In addition, it looks that the Stelvio will reveal some design cues with the Giulia. Although prototype is disguised, we can easily see the familiar Alfa Romeo headlights and grille like this on the Giulia. In addition, the reduced, lean and almost coupe-like condition lends the automobile an athletic look that’s commensurate with the aura of the Alfa Romeo brand. With the disguise cloaking these prototypes, we can easily see a lot of its details tolerate a solid resemblance to the Giulia saloon – the iconic shield grille and headlights look almost similar. Both vents in leading bumper have been just a bit reshaped to match the SUV’s bigger body, however.
2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio – Interior
These images give us our first chance to start to see the Stelvio’s interior. Predictably, a lot of it appears to get been raised direct from the Giulia. The center console looks practically identical and Alfa Romeo’s distinctive cowled instrument binnacle remains.
Control buttons for the computerized gearbox are put in the same section of the dashboard and – to help expand concrete the Stelvio’s sporty image – there’s a couple of huge paddle shifters attached behind the tire. The dash-mounted screen is installed in an identical location to the Gulia, too, so it’ll probably use a close to indistinguishable infotainment system.
2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio – Engines
The new car Stelvio will be built using the same system as the Giulia saloon and, as a total result, is likely to come offered with an identical collection of engines. A 2.0-litre petrol engine will probably be offered although most purchasers are expected to choose a 2.2-litre diesel unit.
More appealing – for diehard Alfa Romeo lovers at least – is the chance of the Quadrifoglio version driven by an identical Ferrari-tuned V6 to the strongest Giulia.
